Auction Set For Remaining Assets Of National Deep-discount Store Chain

–Tiger Group to conduct auction of XS Cargo’s Ontario distribution center and corporate office assets on November 18

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. (11/13/14)—Following the successful liquidation of the merchandise inventories and store fixtures  of the 50-store Canadian deep-discount chain XS Cargo Company, Tiger Group has been authorized by the Ontario superior court of justice to conduct an online auction sale of equipment and other assets from XS Cargo’s distribution center and corporate offices here.

Appealing to a wide range of businesses with office, warehousing and distribution operations, the auction by Tiger Group’s Remarketing Services Division will offer material handling equipment and other under-roof rolling stock; barcode systems; Macs, PCs and laptops; IT and network gear; digital CCTV and security systems; modern employee cafes and kitchens; contemporary office cubicles, seating and case goods; a photo studio/cameras, and much more.

Online bidding is now under way at www.SoldTiger.com and will close in rapid succession, live auction style, on November 18, beginning at 10:30 a.m. (ET). Previews of the various assets being offered will be held on November 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the company’s facilities located at 7400 Bramalea Road, Unit A, in Mississauga.

XS Cargo, which was founded in 1996, filed for protection against creditors on July 30, 2014. At that time, the company employed 650 people, including 195 full-time workers, across eight provinces. In its filing, the company stated that its financial condition deteriorated in the wake of increased competition in the discount retail sector. The chainwide inventory liquidation sale began on September 27 and was completed on October 26.

Key assets featured in the online auction include a 2013 CCTV camera system, a Kantech keyless access control card system with seven control boxes, Raymond electric reach trucks and order pickers, a Yale electric ride-on lift truck, and an American Lincoln zamboni-type floor scrubber and sweeper. Warehouse data capture electronics and equipment includes Motorola scanners and access points, and Monarch PAXAR printers.

Also available are conference tables and seating, and complete executive offices with desks, bookcases—most of it from 2013; and kitchen and cafeteria seating, tables, refrigerators and other equipment.

Electronics, computer and networking equipment includes 27-inch iMac computers; a Shoretel IP phone system with 49 handsets; HP Proliant G8, Dell Poweredge and Mac servers; PowerBooks, laptops and PCs; as well as Canon digital cameras and photo studio equipment.
